ABOUT DR. LARSEN
Dr. Larsen has been a psychologist
since 1981. His original training focused on the treatment of adults
experiencing significant negative emotions and conflict in their lives.
Early in his career, he was the director of a small community mental health
clinic in Denver Colorado. Because of his experiences there in dealing
with families, he decided to obtain additional advanced training in working
with children, adolescents, and their families. He completed a post-doctoral
fellowship in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of children and adolescents
at The Children's Hospital Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, in Boston
Massachusetts. Dr. Larsen has been in private practice in San Antonio,
Texas for over 20 years and currently he works with children, adolescents,
and adults primarily using a cognitive-behavioral therapy approach.
He works with clients experiencing difficulties including: work conflict,
family of origin issues, sexual abuse and victimization, anxiety, depression,
relationship difficulties, self-esteem problems, divorce, parenting, assessment
and treatment of ADHD, adoption issues, and the assessment of learning
differences.
Dr. Larsen has held teaching
positions at Wilford Hall Medical Center, as well as, the University of
Texas Medical School. He has given numerous presentations and workshops
related to the assessment and treatment of ADHD and learning disabilities,
parenting difficult children, and conducting cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Additionally, he consults with families in high conflict who are involved
in divorce, custody and visitation disputes, and abuse allegations.
